Clinical Effect of Sirdalud¢ç in Treatment of Acute Back Pain



Abstract
Newly developed centrally acting muscle relaxant, Tizanidine(Sirdalud) is effective and safe in painful muscle spasm in the patients with acute back pain.
The authors have conducted a clinical study to evaluate the efficacy and tolerance of Sirdalud to the twenty five cases of patients with acute painful muscle spasm during three months from Nov. 1989 to Feb 1990.
The clinical results were as follow
1. In 25 cases of the patients male were 9, female were 16 cases and average age was 38 years old.
2. The diagnosis were 20 cases of acute back sprain, 3 cases of herniated nucleus pulposus and 2 cases of spondylolisthesis.
3. Three and seven days after oral administration of Sirdalud, there was marked improvement in pain at rest, pain on movement, pain at night and pain on palpation.
4. Overall tolerance and efficacy by the patient were 100% and 92%. 5. There was no discernable side effect during medication.
In conclusion, Sirdalud has good efficacy and tolerance in treatment of painful muscle spasm in patients with acute back pain.
